My Absolute Favorite Time of Year (and It’s Not What You Think… Probably)

What is your favorite holiday? Why is it your favorite?

Okay, folks, let’s get real for a second. Everyone goes on and on about Christmas this and Halloween that. Don’t get me wrong, those holidays are fine and dandy. But for me? There’s one holiday that reigns supreme in my book, and it’s not even close: Thanksgiving.
Yeah, you heard me right. Thanksgiving. And before you picture awkward family dinners and political debates, let me tell you exactly why this glorious Thursday in November holds the top spot in my heart.
First and foremost, and let’s be honest here, it’s all about the food. I’m talking a full-on, no-holds-barred FEAST. Turkey so juicy you could cry. Mountains of mashed potatoes drowning in gravy. Stuffing that’s practically a religious experience. And cranberry sauce? Don’t even get me started. On Thanksgiving, I operate on a simple principle: eat until I can’t possibly eat another bite, and then eat just one more. It’s a beautiful, delicious cycle, and I wouldn’t trade it for all the candy canes in the world. Seriously, the sheer volume of deliciousness is enough to make my heart sing (and my stomach groan contentedly).
But wait, there’s more! Thanksgiving has a sneaky little bonus for yours truly: it’s always hanging around my birthday. My birthday usually falls right before or right after Thanksgiving, which basically means a solid week of celebration in my world. Double the good times, double the excuse to hang out with loved ones. It’s like the universe decided to give me the best birthday present ever by sandwiching it right next to a holiday dedicated to good food and good company. I mean, come on, could it get any better?
And finally, the pièce de résistance, the cherry on top of this autumnal sundae: pumpkin pie. Now, don’t get me wrong, I appreciate a good birthday cake. But let’s be real, pumpkin pie is in a whole different league. That warm, spiced filling, that flaky crust… it’s pure perfection. Instead of the usual candles and frosting, I get a slice (or two, or maybe the whole darn pie) of this seasonal masterpiece. It’s a tradition I look forward to all year long. Forget the chocolate and vanilla; give me that sweet, earthy goodness any day.
So yeah, while everyone else is counting down the days until they can deck the halls or don their spooky costumes, you’ll find me eagerly anticipating the arrival of Thanksgiving. It’s the perfect combination of incredible food, fantastic timing with my birthday, and the unparalleled joy of a slice of pumpkin pie. What’s not to love? Now, if you’ll excuse me, I’m going to go dream about gravy. Happy almost-Thanksgiving, everyone!
