Normal Is Just a Myth

Is a little chaos actually good for us?

Some people swear that a little chaos is good for you. It keeps you sharp, teaches you to adapt, and makes life interesting. Maybe they’re right. I honestly couldn’t tell you because chaos isn’t an occasional visitor in my life. It pays rent.

I’ve gotten so used to juggling unexpected problems, schedule changes, random phone calls, and things breaking at the worst possible moment that “normal” feels suspicious. If I wake up and nothing goes sideways before lunch, I start wondering what disaster is quietly loading in the background. It’s like living with a progress bar that never quite reaches 100%.

The funny thing is, after a while you stop fighting it. You learn to roll with it, laugh when you can, and keep moving because standing still doesn’t magically make the chaos disappear. Maybe that’s the hidden benefit. Not that life gets easier, but you get better at handling the nonsense. Humans are weird like that.

So is a little chaos actually good for us? I have no idea. All I know is I’ve had enough of it to qualify as a subject in a long-term scientific study. If there’s a control group out there living peaceful, predictable lives, I’d like to meet them. Mostly to confirm they actually exist.
