Waking up on Day 3 of GeoWoodstock, the excitement was real. We kicked things off at the main event over at Mylan Park. The vibe was electric, with geocachers from all over swapping stories, sharing laughs, and just soaking in the community spirit. I got to catch up with friends I hadn’t seen in ages—it felt like a big family reunion with a geocaching twist.
We visited Morgantown Mall, and man, it was completely abandoned. I mean, there were maybe two or three stores still open, but the rest was just empty storefronts and dim hallways. It had this weird, eerie vibe—like something out of a post-apocalyptic movie or an old horror game. I walked around a bit and took some photos, mostly because I couldn’t believe how deserted it was. The silence in there was kinda creepy, honestly.
After the main event, we shifted gears and set out to conquer the Country Roads Challenge. And guess what? Mission accomplished! The challenge took us through some stunning spots, and the sense of achievement when we wrapped it up was unbeatable. But the adventure didn’t stop there. We dove into some spontaneous thrift shopping, hunting for quirky finds—and of course, squeezing in more geocaching. We tracked down several caches loaded with favorite points, each one offering its own unique surprise. One, in particular, pushed my limits—I found myself climbing about 40 feet up a tree to snag a cache. Talk about adrenaline!
As the sun began to set, we swung by a Munzee event. It was awesome catching up with our friend Rob, the owner. Seeing him again added that perfect personal touch to the day. To cap off this epic adventure, we rewarded ourselves with a feast at an all-you-can-eat Chinese restaurant. The food was incredible, a perfect end to a day packed with memories. Spending time with my wife and family throughout it all made every moment even more special. GeoWoodstock Day 3 was more than just an event—it was an unforgettable experience filled with camaraderie, challenges, and cherished memories.
