The Meaning of Life Changes

Daily writing prompt
What is the meaning of life?
C:\LIFE\BOOT>

When you're young,
life feels like a broken pinball machine
running on caffeine, bad decisions,
and zero fear of consequences.

Everything is loud.

Music.
People.
Engines.
Bars.
Parties.

You thought silence meant something was wrong.

Your entire operating system was basically:

> PARTY
> GET LAID
> STAY OUT ALL NIGHT
> WAKE UP SOMEHOW
> REPEAT

That was happiness.

Or at least that's what we told ourselves.

Back then,
you could survive on energy drinks,
2 hours of sleep,
and gas station food
without your body sending formal complaints
through your lower back.

Life was chaos.

And chaos felt exciting.

Then one day...

something changes.

Not dramatically.
Not all at once.

Just slowly.

You stop wanting noise.

You stop needing crowds.
You stop caring about impressing people.
You stop chasing every stupid distraction
the world throws at you.

Because honestly?

Most people are exhausting.

Human beings spend half their lives
creating drama
just so they have something to talk about.

Absolutely incredible species design.

Now happiness looks different.

A quiet morning.
Dogs laying nearby.
Coffee.
No chaos.
No pointless arguments.
No notifications screaming for attention.

Just peace.

Your wife sitting next to you
without anybody needing to fill the silence.

That kind of comfort means something when you get older.

The simple things start hitting harder.

Not because life got boring.

Because you finally understand
what actually matters.

C:\LIFE\TRUTH.LOG>

When you're young,
you want the world to notice you.

When you're older,
you just want the world to leave you alone long enough
to enjoy your life.

And honestly?

Sitting quietly with your dogs and your wife
while the rest of society melts down online
like malfunctioning AOL chatrooms from 1998...

might be the closest thing to real happiness
any of us ever find.

C:\LIFE\END>

Connection terminated.
Peace successfully installed.
