Future Me Is Probably An Asshole

If your future self could send you one sentence, what do you hope it would say?

If my future self could send me one sentence, I honestly hope it says absolutely nothing. I don’t need some message from that grumpy old bastard waiting for me in the future. I’m already not exactly known for being the nicest guy around, so I can’t imagine future me suddenly becoming some wise, positive, inspirational asshole.

If he does send something, it’s probably going to be mean, rude, sarcastic, or just plain bad news. Something like, “You were right about everything, unfortunately.” Or maybe, “You’re still dealing with the same idiots.” Knowing my luck, it’ll be something worse, like, “You should have listened to yourself.”

I don’t expect future me to have all the answers. Hell, I barely trust present me with them. I just assume he’s sitting somewhere, looking back at everything I’m doing now and shaking his head.

So what do I hope my future self says?

Nothing.

Stay the hell out of it, old man. I’ve got enough problems dealing with the current version of me.

Ha! This is the funniest take on the prompt I’ve read , Eric! 😄 ‘You were right about everything, unfortunately’ I actually snorted. There’s something weirdly wise about not wanting advice from a grumpy future you. Sometimes the best message really is radio silence! Thanks for the laugh! 😆
