Belmont County in a Day: Dogs, Detours, and Old Friends!

I just got back from the 2025 Belmont County Rubberneck Tour, and let me tell you, it was a hoot! And of course, you know I couldn’t leave my furry best friends at home. So, yeah, it was me, the open road, and the two pups ready for some small-town charm.
First off, can we just say that Belmont County knows how to put on a tour? Seriously, every little town we rolled through had something cute or quirky to check out. We sniffed out some seriously delicious local treats (for me, obviously, the dogs just got extra pats), and the scenery? Oh. My. Goodness. Rolling hills, charming little shops, the whole shebang. My camera roll is officially overflowing.
But the real highlight? Getting to catch up with my old buddy, John Mattox Jr.! It’s been way too long, and it was so good to see him doing his thing. We reminisced about the good old days and had some serious laughs. It’s moments like that that really make these little adventures worthwhile, you know?
And the dogs? They were in absolute heaven! So many new smells, so many friendly faces wanting to give them ear scratches. By the end of the day, they were completely zonked, snoring away in the backseat like little furry potatoes. Success!
Honestly, if you’re looking for a fun, laid-back day trip, you absolutely HAVE to check out the Belmont County Rubberneck Tour next year. It’s the perfect way to explore some hidden gems and maybe even reconnect with an old friend. Just make sure you bring your comfy shoes and maybe a dog (or two!) for extra good vibes. You won’t regret it!

I grew up in a midsized midwest town, (30K) and let me tell you I just love small towns (and HATE big cities) The only reason I live in one now is because it was a necessary sacrifice to make my wife of 25 years happy.. Every summer I go back home to visit my father and it just warms my heart to see my old stomping ground. I’m glad you enjoyed your excursion.
