No Plans, No Problems!

I was supposed to work today. Then somehow I got the whole thing off, and I’ve also got Monday off. So apparently I accidentally acquired a four-day weekend. This is the kind of mistake I can fully support.

I don’t really have much planned, either. No big trip. No ambitious project. No bullshit itinerary where every hour has to be filled with something “productive.” Just relaxing, hanging out with the dogs, spending time with my wife, and generally doing as little as humanly possible.

Honestly, that sounds pretty damn good. After working, dealing with people, responsibilities, weather, and all the other assorted garbage that comes with being an adult, sometimes the best plan is having absolutely no plan. Wake up when I wake up. Sit around. Let the dogs do whatever weird dog shit they’re going to do. Hang out with my wife. Maybe watch something. Maybe screw around on the computer. Maybe accomplish absolutely nothing.

And I’m completely fine with that.

Four days. No alarm clock. No rushing around. No pretending I’m excited to go somewhere I don’t actually want to go. Just a long weekend of relaxing and enjoying the people and animals I actually like being around.

Sometimes you don’t need a vacation. You just need work to accidentally disappear for four days.

I’m reminded of the line in office space when Peter says “I did nothing today, and it was everything I thought it could be.“

    Enjoy this amazing weekend Eric!
