When Your Job Feeds the Soul

What is your career plan?

You know how people always ask, “What’s your five-year plan?” or “Where do you see yourself in ten years?” Yeah… I’ve got an answer for that: doing exactly what I’m doing now.

Seriously.

I have an amazing job that I actually look forward to every day. No, it’s not some high-powered corporate gig or a trendy startup with beanbag chairs and kombucha on tap. I work with Meals on Wheels, helping senior citizens—and it’s honestly the most rewarding thing I’ve ever done.

There’s something really special about it. Whether it’s bringing someone a hot meal, checking in on them, or just sharing a few minutes of conversation, it matters. These aren’t just tasks on a to-do list—they’re real human connections. And every day, I get to make someone’s day a little brighter. How many people can say that about their job?

Plus—let’s be real for a second—the pay is great, the benefits are amazing, and the hours? Beautiful. It’s like the universe said, “Let’s just go ahead and give you the perfect setup.” I’m not chasing some imaginary promotion or burning myself out trying to climb a ladder I don’t even want to be on. I’m exactly where I want to be, doing work that feels good and makes a difference.

So, my “career plan” isn’t full of dramatic pivots or ambitious leaps. It’s simple: keep doing what I love, with people I respect, in a job that actually helps others. I’m not just content—I’m proud. This isn’t just a job. It’s my career, and I wouldn’t trade it for anything.

That’s the plan. And honestly? I think it’s a pretty solid one.
