I’m Gen X. We didn’t exercise. We worked. And we still do. That was the workout. You spent the day carrying shit, walking, lifting, bending, moving, fixing things, and generally doing whatever needed to be done. Nobody needed an app to remind them to stand up.
So when somebody asks for five simple exercises to do at home, I have to laugh. Push-ups, squats, sit-ups, lunges, and jumping jacks? Sure, they work. But we already know how to work. We’ve been doing it since we were 16.
We don’t have time for exercising because we’re busy working. Maybe the Gen X fitness plan was just surviving the day without needing a subscription to tell us how.
