Yard Sales, Food Trucks, and Sweet Treats

Today was one of those Saturdays that felt like a little adventure, the kind you don’t plan out in detail but ends up being just about perfect. My wife and I kicked things off early, heading out to scout some yard sales and flea markets. There’s something oddly satisfying about rummaging through old treasures, hunting for that unexpected find. And boy, did my wife hit the jackpot! She snagged a Singer Tiny Serger for an absolute steal. You’d think she found gold with how excited she was—and honestly, I can’t blame her.

After all that bargain hunting, we worked up quite the appetite. Lucky for us, the Wheeling Food Truck Festival was in full swing. The air was thick with the mouthwatering scents of all kinds of food, making it nearly impossible to decide where to begin. But the Naughty Lobster food truck caught my eye, and let me tell you, their lobster roll was nothing short of amazing. Perfectly buttery, with tender chunks of lobster that just melted in my mouth. To top it off, we bumped into some old friends, which made the experience even sweeter. Good food and good company—can’t beat that combo.

But the day wasn’t over yet. On our way back, we made a pit stop at the Fat Apple Bakery in Bridgeport, Ohio. If you’ve never been, you’re seriously missing out. I treated myself to a homemade apple dumpling, warm and flaky with just the right amount of caramel drizzle. My wife went for a few chocolate-covered strawberries that looked almost too pretty to eat—but of course, she didn’t let that stop her.

Now we’re back home, relaxing on the porch with our dogs, soaking in the last bit of this beautiful day. The breeze is just right, and the dogs seem as content as we are. Days like this remind me that sometimes the simple plans turn out to be the best.
