Man, today was a blast. I hit the road for a full day of geocaching, starting out in Saint Clairsville and wrapping things up in Zanesville with some good friends and even better food.
It started early—coffee in hand, GPS loaded up, and that itch for adventure buzzing in my brain. First stop: Saint Clairsville. The cool thing about geocaching is it always takes you to places you’d probably never go otherwise. That was definitely the vibe today.
As I made my way toward Cambridge, I scored a bunch of caches—some easy park-and-grabs, a few trickier hides that had me circling like a confused raccoon. But the scenery? Worth every wrong turn. One of the highlights was this super narrow tunnel. Looked like something out of an old ghost story. You could barely fit a car through it, and naturally, the cache was tucked in a spot that made me work for it.
Then there was this awesome brick S-bridge. Yeah, an actual S-shaped bridge made of bricks—stuff you don’t expect to find in the middle of Ohio. It was just sitting out there with history written all over it. I snagged a cache nearby and stuck around a bit longer than I planned, just soaking it in.
Not far from there, I found a covered bridge, the kind with those big wooden beams and that creaky, haunted-house sound when you walk through it. Another cache, another memory.
All in all, I pulled in about 15 caches today—not a record-breaker, but solid. The best part? Ending the day in Zanesville where I met up with a bunch of my geocaching buddies for dinner. We swapped stories, showed off our coolest finds, and planned the next adventure.
Days like this remind me why I love this hobby. It’s not just about finding little containers—it’s about the weird roads, hidden spots, and good people along the way. Can’t wait to do it again.
