47 Years Later
What’s one thing you wish you had started doing earlier in life?
One thing I wish I had started doing earlier in life? Traveling more and actually enjoying life instead of constantly worrying about work, what other people thought, and what I was supposed to be doing. I spent a lot of years listening to everybody else while putting myself somewhere near the bottom of the list. Work, responsibilities, expectations, repeat. Because apparently that’s what we’re all supposed to do until we finally realize we’ve been waiting for permission to enjoy our own lives.
I didn’t really have much “me time” until I was 47. That’s a hell of a long time to finally figure out that life isn’t supposed to be nothing but work and doing what everyone else expects. Now I want to travel, see places I’ve never seen, take the damn trip, stop worrying so much, and actually enjoy the time I have. You don’t get those years back. There’s no reset button. I should’ve figured that out a lot sooner.
Seems like I’m on a parallel road to yours. Work should not be my life… I need to remind myself of that.
